Moving house is a stressful experience at the best of times, even when it is your choice to do so. Being forced to flee your home at short notice, due to a severe flood for example, is altogether more traumatising. Over the past few years, climate change has resulted in major floods at various locations across the world. Here in the UK, we have recently had experience of major floods in many areas. The situation looks likely to worsen, with flood relief and insurance claims becoming more important in the lives of many people.

Our experience of re-housing victims of the floods, shows that the faster we can move to provide flood relief, the better. The shock of a disastrous flood is lessened when victims can at least retreat to a warm, safe haven and are also protected by insurance.
